The pride and joy of North Township, Wicker Memorial Park is awash in activity every day of the year. Owned and operated by the North Township Trustee, Frank J. Mrvan has made life-enriching improvements part of his mission.
“As trustee, I always knew it was important to provide recreational and entertainment opportunities that are free or low-cost. We have worked diligently to provide our residents with the chance to enjoy a campout, volunteer for good causes, listen to great music and exercise in an outdoor setting.”
The park was bequeathed to the township as a gift to the township’s five communities — Whiting, East Chicago, Hammond, Munster, and HIghland.
Mrvan and his staff are committed to being good stewards of the greenspace.
“Our hope is that every North Township resident finds a reason to visit the park at least once a year, hopefully more often,” he said. “If you haven’t attended an event recently, it’s time to look here to see what we offer. See you at the park!”
